Installation Supplement
for Workhorse UFO rear gas engine chassis

Date: March, 2008

Use with Unified Tow Brake applications
UTB-1000 and UTH-1000

ISSUE
The Workhorse UFO rear gas engine chassis does not have a typical brake switch like other gas engine chassis. However, it does have a place for a brake switch in the brake pedal assembly. A brake switch is necessary for installation of the Unified Tow Brake (UTB) so that the UTB inertia devices become active when the brake pedal is depressed.

SOLUTION
The installer will need to mount a brake switch in the hole provided in the brake pedal assembly. (A NAPA/Echlin part number SL169 will work for this application.) Once the switch is mounted and adjusted in the brake pedal assembly, wire either of the two terminals on the switch to any +12 volt power source. Then attach the orange wire from the UTB EC-4115A harness to the other terminal of the new switch. There is no polarity, so it does not make any difference which terminal gets the +12 volt or the orange wire.
